I put Trey down for a nap today like usual. Then I fell asleep. (Kayelynn too) I was so tired that I slept through the phone ringing, my cell phone ringing and some sort of wild party in Trey's room. I had no idea this was going on. He hadn't been wild or crazy or overly destructive when I put him to bed.
But when I woke him up I couldn't believe the mess. Contents of the closet were on the floor. His shoes were scattered about. Books were pulled off the bookshelf. It looked like there had been an earthquake or some sort of explosion on the train table. The barrel of monkeys had erupted. And worst of all was the Easter decorations that were still on his window(yes, I know its May) These were gel clings of bunnies, chicks, eggs, flowers. He really liked them which is part of the reason we'd left them up. Today he shredded them. I mean shredded them into teeny tiny pieces and threw them everywhere. Because they were gel clings they stuck to everything; the top of the walls, the ceiling beams, the ceiling fan, everything! I was very aggravated. Trey spent the better part of the next hour picking things up while I supervised and lectured. He said he was sorry a few times. He said he
wouldn't do it again. Then later he says to me, "Mommy, sometimes little boys do these things". It was as if he were trying to explain the secrets of life to me. Funny, but I was still mad. "Sometimes little boys get spankings too". I told him.
"Oh" he said quickly and got back to work. What a little boy I have!
The Thing I Have Been Wondering

It has been a rough year. That is no lie. We have had one challenge after
another, and if this were a dark comedy one would recognize that it has
been fun...

I might check it out. I'm just afraid I'll be on the internet all the time then. I can remember Drew's room like that a few times, but Hannah's room is like that all the time I think. Maybe because it's smaller, it looks more chaotic. Good to hear from you. Happy Cinco de Mayo.
